What is it about Radio 1 and saving their best shit for the month of November? If you'll recall, it was around this time last year that they gave us a two-hour barrage of dopeness from Flying Lotus to punctuate a year's worth of generally bland house and techno.
For those who don't know Hudson Mohawke is a 23 year-old Scottish DMC champ. As part of that loosely defined (read: catch all for journalists) LA/UK axis of young urban producers, he traffics in an ADHD-influenced hybrid of skewed electro and chunky 8-bit hip-hop that the lazy (or unimaginative) are calling "wonky."
Being a DMC champ, dude's technical skills are locked. And selection wise, this mix's got everything from the latest genre bending of Joy Orbison to the early '90s 'ardkore of Manix**. It's basically a two-hour, transcontinental throw-down urban bass that thoroughly scrambles dirty-south crunk and glitchy R & B with chopped & screwed-up electro, grime and dancehall.
