DJ Loxy CX3 Podcast

As an OG member of London's notorious Metalheadz crew, DJ Loxy, has been championing Drum & Bass since it's heyday in the 90's. Known for his ninja like dexterity and efficiency as well as his machine-like consistency in wrecking dance floors, Loxy has attained near mythical status as a DJ within D&B circles.

Admittedly, D&B has bored the shit out of me for years and as such I've not paid much attention to it for sometime. But, I came across this podcast- the third in a series done in conjunction between his Cylon and Xtinction Labels- and I have to say, it's pretty dope!

It's on a hypnotic, minimal tip- in a similar vein as Plastikman or Ricardo Villalobos or Basic Channel, but the rhythms are more fractured. Full of brittle drum programming and percussive clicks and pops which frame pristine melodies, atmospheric washes of synthesizer and cavernous technoid bass.

Though no official monker exists this yet, I'm liking Micro-Bass as it seems to sum up the vibe quite nicely.
